Is the mold assessor testing the air or just taking a tape sample? How many mold samples are being taken? Each sample taken must go to an independent certified laboratory to be tested. So, prices are going to vary with the different amounts and types of sampling needing to be taken and analyzed by a state certified laboratory. If fungal growth is found to be elevated and it is an occupant health hazard, then mold remediation could be recommended, and a protocol would be provided to return residence to Condition 1, or acceptable fungal levels. Levels will be determined by using careful methodology by collecting air or surface samples (bio-aerosol, tape, or swabs) that would be sent to an independent accredited laboratory for analysis. Results of analysis provided fungal levels and type within the areas tested. Moisture study will be conducted to determine the extent of elevated moisture within the affected areas of accessible building materials. Temperature, relative humidity (RH%), and dew point (DP) readings would also be taken using a thermo-hygrometer to determine the humidity concentration in the air.
